Dr. Bruce Markman, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Markman serves as the Medical Director for FirstNation Health where he oversees the reviewing of medical claims and case management decisions that directly impact quality of care and cost savings for our partners. All medical staff report to him regarding cost containment and cost reduction processes.
Dr. Markman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy and Foot and Ankle Surgery. He has been published twice in the New England Journal of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University where he graduated 2nd in his class. He went on to complete his internship for general surgery at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, the 8th ranked best hospital in the United States.
Dr. Markman completed his orthopedic residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center and ultimately obtained his fellowship at the West Coast Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He is an expert in shoulder reconstructive surgery including but not limited to joint replacement. He also has comprehensive experience in arthroscopy of the shoulder, elbow, knee, hip and ankle.
